RICKSHAWS, TAXIS, AND THE RECENT RIDE-HAILING SERVICES

The city's abundance of ride-hailing services has contributed to the near-impossibility of finding a taxi stand in Karachi. These technological advancements have made getting about the city and from point A to point B relatively simple for commuters and tourists.

However, Karachi still has a large number of rickshaw stalls, the majority of which are frequently transient. Rickshaw drivers frequently park on busy roadways near commercial areas. When they break no parking rules, the authorities frequently punish them or order them to leave.

CIRCULAR RAILWAY OF KARACHI (KCR)

In 1969, the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) was opened for business. The KCR line's original route connected City Station with Drigh Road. To add more stations to the KCR network, the railway line was repeatedly extended in the 1970s. When the Karachi Circular Railway was operating at its best, 104 trains per day were passing through several of the city's residential and business districts.

The KCR came to an end completely in the 1990s as a result of ongoing financial losses and some enduring operational problems. On February 10, 2021, the KCR service was finally relaunched after months of planning and preparation. The Karachi Circular Railway is now operating on a 14-kilometer track between Orangi and Karachi City Station as part of its relaunch.

By using electric trains and upgrading its infrastructure, the government also intends to modernize the KCR project. The forthcoming KCR project is planned to be a 43-kilometer dual-track rail mass transit system, according to the information provided.

Along its length, 33 stations would be constructed, connecting the megacity's key regions. Although the project's financing have received approval from the relevant authorities, development work has not yet started and the project is still in the planning stages. This massive transit project would take three years to complete.

The first electric bus service in the nation has just begun operating in the megacity, thus this question is now much more pertinent. The ground-breaking transportation initiative got under way on January 13. For Karachiites, it ended up being the very first good news of 2023.

The public bus and BRT network in Karachi is the most colorful, with colors like green, orange, red, white, and, as of recently, pink. This recently announced Pink Bus service will only be available to women. THE KARACHI PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IS PLANNED FOR MAJOR UPGRADES

The province government started Orange Line after the Green Line Bus Project opened, and is currently working on the Red Line BRT project. It is a hybrid bus-based transit initiative. Let's find out more information about this future initiative.

PROJECT FOR RED LINE BRT

Red Line Metrobus in Karachi would have a fleet of hybrid buses fueled by diesel and biogas as it was being designed as an ultramodern yet sustainable mass transit project. A unique kind of fuel made from cow dung is called biomethane gas. A sizable biogas facility of 31 acres will be built in Bhens Colony for the efficient running and maintenance of this planned bus service.

The Red Line bus route, which serves thousands of commuters each day, departs from Malir Halt and travels all the way to Tower through Numaish Chowrangi. If everything goes according to plan, it will be the first green transportation initiative in the city.

Two routes with a combined length of 29 kilometers form the foundation of the Red Line BRT project. According to the suggested route, the forthcoming public transportation in Karachi would travel through 24 bus terminals and 13 significant crossroads throughout the city. The project's main infrastructure components are 10 overhead bridges and 7 underpasses.
