Near Quetta Police Lines 5 Wounded in Explosion : Rescue Official

At least 5 injured in blast near Quetta Police Lines, according to a rescue worker

According to emergency officials, an explosion that occurred on Sunday close to the Quetta Police Lines area injured at least five individuals.

The injured individuals have been sent to the Civil Hospital, Quetta, according to Edhi employee Zeeshan Ahmed, who is in charge of the rescue effort on the scene.

According to him, the scene has been blocked off and police and emergency personnel have come.

The nature of the explosion is yet unknown and the police have not released any statements.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the -- (TTP), an outlawed organization, took responsibility for the attack. It said that the explosive was  security personnel.

The explosion occurs just days after a horrifying suicide bombing claimed over 80 people, predominantly police officers, in the Peshawar Police Lines region.

A wave of terrorism has attacked Pakistan, primarily in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but also in Balochistan and the bordering Punjab town of Mianwali. Additionally, a terror strike affected areas outside of Islamabad.

More than 100 attacks were carried out by the TTP last year, most of which took place after August, when the group's peace negotiations with the Pakistani government started to sputter. The TTP shares ideological ties with the Afghan Taliban. The TTP publicly broke the ceasefire on November 28 of last year.

Last month was the bloodiest since 2018, when at least 44 militant strikes around the nation resulted in at least 134 fatalities (a 139% increase) and 254 injuries.
