After Punjab, KPK Government Also Keen On Providing Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is the housing which is available on discount/low cost as compared to open market. In western countries, the public has easy access to affordable housing. For example, in UK, 67% of the housing is social housing or housing backed by the government.

Affordable housing in Pakistan isn't normally available for general public but only for the government employees. However, the government has begun the Prime Minister Housing Foundation, which gives the housing at significant discounts.

The first ever initiative on government level for affordable housing was taken by the government of Punjab in Ashiana Housing Scheme. Ashiana Housing Scheme is the venture which offers low-value housing units. The overall population in Lahore has welcomed these ventures, however, only a limited number of families could benefit from this project due to limited development.

Initiatives By Government Of KPK:

Following Punjab Government's footsteps, KPK Government has also initiated moderate housing for the locals there. Since 2013, KPK Government has started numerous affordable housing ventures in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Many tasks have been finished and many projects are moving towards completion. Every one of these activities by KPK government is incredible but at the same time, on a restricted scale. Affordable housing needs to be incorporated into national development strategies with the goal that a large percentage of population gets affordable housing.
